Common questions
Who has to meet an Emiratisation target in 2026?
Private companies with 50 or more employees in the UAE have a percentage target on their skilled roles. Companies with 20 to 49 employees in one of 14 named sectors have a head-count obligation instead: hire and keep a set number of Emiratis. Companies under 20 employees, or with 20 to 49 outside those sectors, have no target.
What is the Emiratisation target for companies with 50 or more employees?
The share of skilled roles held by Emiratis has to rise by 2 percentage points a year, 1 point by 30 June and 1 point by 31 December. Counting from 2022, that reaches a cumulative 10% by 31 December 2026. MoHRE states the yearly growth; the 10% figure is worked out from it, so confirm your own target in your MoHRE records.
How much is the contribution for each missing Emirati?
MoHRE's June 2026 statements, as reported by WAM and Gulf News, put it at AED 10,000 a month, AED 120,000 a year, for each Emirati short of the target, from 1 July 2026. Some guides still quote the earlier AED 9,000 a month. This calculator uses AED 10,000 and is marked as a draft until that figure is confirmed on MoHRE's own pages.
Which employees count towards the target?
The percentage is worked out on skilled roles only, at a skilled level as classified in your MoHRE records, and only for staff employed in the UAE. Staff at sites in other countries do not count, and counting a Gulf-wide headcount can double the number on paper.
What do companies with 20 to 49 employees have to do?
In the 14 named sectors, hire one Emirati during 2024 and one more during 2025, so two by 1 January 2026, and keep those already employed. MoHRE charged AED 96,000 for each Emirati not hired in 2024 and AED 108,000 for 2025. It had not published a 2026 figure for this group when these rules were checked.
Is this calculator legal advice?
No. It is an estimate from published rules, and MoHRE's own figures and your MoHRE records always win. Wurxa does not file anything with MoHRE or Nafis.
