ZKTeco BioTime alternative

Keep your ZKTeco terminals. Lose the BioTime server.

The short answer

Wurxa is a cloud alternative to ZKTeco BioTime for businesses in the UAE. It connects to the ZKTeco terminals you already own over the ADMS push protocol, so there is no BioTime server to install, back up or patch: punches arrive live from every site in a browser or on a phone. The same workspace runs rosters, overtime at the UAE 125% and 150% rates, leave, document expiry and, with the payroll add-on, WPS salary files. It is free for up to 5 employees, and paid plans start at AED 1,188 a year plus VAT.

An honest fit check

Which one suits your team

Stay on BioTime if

  • You want software from the terminal manufacturer itself.
  • Your policy is that attendance data stays on a server inside your own network.
  • You already have someone who maintains the BioTime server and are happy with it.

Move to Wurxa if

  • You do not want a server, a database or a Windows machine to look after.
  • You run several sites, or several countries, and want one live view of all of them.
  • You want rosters, overtime, leave and documents on the same employee record as the punches.
  • You pay salaries through WPS and want the SIF file from the same hours.
  • You want staff to see their own attendance and leave on a phone.
Switching

What moving from BioTime involves

The hardware stays on the wall. What changes is where the terminal sends its punches.

01

Keep the terminals

Nothing is replaced. Enrolled fingerprints and faces stay on the device.

02

Point them at Wurxa

Change the terminal's cloud server (ADMS) address to Wurxa and claim it by serial number.

03

Bring your people across

Pull the user list and the punch history the terminal still holds, or import employees from a spreadsheet.

04

Run it live

Punches arrive as staff clock in. If the network drops, the terminal holds its records and sends them when it is back.

Beyond the punch

What the same punches feed in Wurxa

Live attendance

Present, late, absent and on leave across every site, updating as terminals report.

Terminal health

Online or offline is worked out from the last time a terminal actually made contact, so a silent one shows as offline.

Rosters and overtime

Duty hours, breaks, grace periods and overtime rules per site, with UAE rates of 125% and 150%.

Leave

Requests, approvals and balances with UAE labour law defaults, and a warning when leave leaves a shift short.

Documents and expiry

Visa, Emirates ID, passport and labour card dates, with reminders before they lapse.

WPS payroll add-on

SIF files in your bank's format, gratuity and overtime from real hours. AED 2,400 a year plus VAT.

Wurxa Workforce

Then from AED 1,188 a year + VAT for up to 30. Flat per tier, never per seat.

Questions

BioTime alternative: common questions

Is Wurxa an alternative to ZKTeco BioTime?

Yes. Wurxa does the job BioTime does for attendance, receiving punches from ZKTeco terminals, but runs in the cloud instead of on a server you maintain. It also adds rosters, UAE overtime, leave, document expiry and WPS payroll on the same record.

Do I need to buy new terminals?

No. Wurxa works with the ZKTeco terminals you already own, as long as they support ADMS push. It is confirmed on SpeedFace V4L, V4L Pro, V5L, F18 and K40. If you are unsure about a model, email us the model and serial and we will check before you change anything.

Do I still need a server?

No. Wurxa is hosted. The terminal pushes punches over the internet straight to Wurxa, and everyone reads the same live data from a browser or the phone app. There is no database, Windows machine or backup to look after on site.

What happens to my fingerprints, faces and punch history?

Enrolled fingerprints and faces stay on the terminal; switching software does not remove them. From Wurxa you can pull the terminal's user list and the punch history it still holds, so you do not start from an empty month. Keep your BioTime database for older records you need to look back on.

Can a terminal send to BioTime and Wurxa at the same time?

A ZKTeco terminal sends to one cloud server address, so switching means changing that address to Wurxa. You can move one site first, check a week of punches, then move the rest.

Does Wurxa handle UAE overtime and WPS?

Yes. Overtime is worked out from real punches at the UAE rates of 125% and 150%, leave follows UAE labour law defaults, and the payroll add-on (AED 2,400 a year plus VAT) produces WPS SIF files in your bank's format, with gratuity and end-of-service.

How much does it cost compared with BioTime?

Wurxa is free for up to 5 employees on one site. Paid plans are a flat yearly price per tier plus VAT, never per seat: Starter AED 1,188 for up to 30 employees, Business AED 4,999 for up to 200 and Scale AED 12,000 for up to 500. BioTime is priced by ZKTeco resellers, so ask yours for a like-for-like quote.

Does Wurxa work with other terminal brands?

ZKTeco terminals are supported today. Other brands are added only when they are ready for production, not when they are announced.
