The short answer

Wurxa Workshop is tool tracking and workshop traceability software for oilfield service workshops. It follows each serial-numbered tool through return, inspection, rebuild, test and release, keeps the history of every serialised part across tools, deducts the stock each rebuild used, and shows which tools are ready for each job. Technicians keep filling in their paper manuals: Wurxa reads the upload and proposes each line, and a person confirms it before anything is saved. It is free for 10 tools and 3 staff; paid plans start at AED 360 a month plus VAT for 40 tools.

In our reading test on a real, filled maintenance manual, all 79 serial entries were read correctly or flagged for a person to check, none was wrong without a flag, and all 17 struck-through replacements were caught.

The cycle

One loop, the same for every tool.

A tool comes back, gets inspected, rebuilt and tested, is released and goes out on a job. Wurxa keeps each turn of that loop as a cycle on the tool. Pick a stage to see how it works.

Upload and confirm

Your technicians fill in the manual. Wurxa does the typing.

Take phone photos or a scan of the filled manual. Wurxa reads the parts list, the serials, the batch numbers and the ticks, compares them with what the tool had last cycle, and proposes each line. A person confirms. Until then, nothing is saved.

Follow any part

Every serialised part keeps its own history, across tools.

A blade is not just a line in this cycle's manual. Its history is kept with its serial: the tools it has been fitted to, every inspection decision, who signed, and when it was replaced. Corrections never overwrite: they are recorded as amendments beside the original.

Know which tools will make the load-out before anyone asks.

Book tools to a job and Wurxa shows each one's readiness against the load-out date: ready, at risk with the check still open, or a line with no tool yet. Only a released tool loads out, by scanning its label or typing its serial.

Stock that knows your builds

See how many builds your shelves can make, and what stops the next one.

Wurxa knows how many of each part a build of each tool type takes. Confirming a rebuild deducts the lots that went in, so the count on screen is the count on the shelf. It works out builds possible, names the bottleneck, and flags any expired lot that goes into a build.

Signed and witnessed

Every step signed, every witness someone else, every result on record.

Sign and witness columns come across from the paper by initials, including witnesses who never log in. A person cannot witness their own signature. Test results are worked out from the readings and the tool type's limits, and a drift test checks the gauge was in calibration on the day.

Life limits and release

A part near its limit stops the release, not the job.

Life-limited parts carry their count of uses. Before release, Wurxa adds the use planned on the next job and fails the check if a part would run past its limit. A tool cannot reach Ready with a failing check unless a supervisor waives it with a written reason, and the waiver stays visible on the tool and the job.

Questions

What workshops ask first

Does it work with the manuals we already use?

Yes. You set each tool type up once from your own manual: the parts list, how many of each part a build takes, which parts carry a serial and which are batch tracked, and the tests and sign-offs the manual records. Configurations with different part counts sit under the same tool type. Every filled manual you upload is then read against that setup.

Can it read handwriting?

It reads printed and handwritten entries, including a serial struck through with a new one written beside it, and proposes each line for a person to check. Two independent readers read every page. Where they disagree, where an entry was written over, or where a tick is unclear, the line is flagged. Nothing is saved until a person confirms it.

What happens when it cannot read something?

The line is marked as unreadable and shown beside an enlarged crop of that row from the page, so the technician can type the value or keep the one already on record. A replacement only counts when the printed serial it replaces can be read. Each flagged line has to be confirmed, edited or rejected on its own; only lines with nothing flagged can be confirmed together.

Do we have to change our paperwork?

No. Technicians keep filling in the same manual on the bench, with the same sign and witness columns. Wurxa takes a scan or phone photos of it afterwards. Signatures and tests can also be recorded straight into Wurxa if you want to move off paper later, but nothing forces you to.

Does it connect to our ERP?

Wurxa imports tool movements from your ERP as a CSV export: tool serial, from and to location, job number and date. A return opens a cycle on that tool, and a serial Wurxa does not know goes to a needs-attention list instead of being guessed. There is no live two-way ERP connection today.

Who owns the data?

You do. Your tools, cycles, uploaded manuals and history belong to your company. History is never overwritten: a correction is recorded as an amendment beside the original, with the person and time. Ask us at any time and we will export your records for you.

Where are our documents processed?

Uploaded documents and your records are stored by Wurxa. To read a page, Wurxa sends the page images to its AI model provider, OpenRouter, which passes them to Google and OpenAI models. We do not claim that documents stay inside the UAE. If that is a requirement for you, talk to us before you upload.

Can a supervisor override a failed check?

Yes, within the rules you set. A supervisor can waive a failing release check with a written reason, and the tool then shows "Released with 1 waiver" everywhere it appears. Checks can be set so they cannot be waived at all. A technician cannot waive, and nobody can witness their own signature.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Wurxa Workshop is free for 10 tools, 3 staff and 5 document reads a month, with no time limit and no card. Paid plans start at AED 360 a month plus VAT for 40 tools with unlimited staff. There is no setup fee.
